Po·lar·i·ty
/p??ler?d?,p??ler?d?/
: the state of having two opposite or contradictory tendencies, opinions, or aspects.
The exhibition explores the nuances in form and concept revealed by the juxtaposition of materials with opposite qualities. Polarity investigates both the formal contrast in materiality between paper and limestone as well as the malleability of these materials via the artists’ ability to defy, redefine and reform their inherent characteristics. Hard and heavy appears soft and weightless; fibrous and flexible becomes solid and rigid.
